The Basement once functioned as the butlers quarters of a grade II listed Georgian home which was built on the remains of the original St Oswins church, since being rebuilt after the war.
Now 200 years on, ‘The Basement’ redefines coastal living creating a truly unique boutique retreat hideaway for two.
LIVING
The use of raw natural materials, the exposed original church stone wall, layers of textures with dark moody tones and considered details create a luxurious cosy feel.
The living area includes contemporary comfort. With two designer stylish leather chairs and a footstool, Samsung picture TV with integrated Netflicks and Amazon, a Roberts bluetooth radio, and a selection of games, you won’t be short of entertainment.
On a vintage workbench you will find a Nespresso coffee pod machine and milk frother, a Japanese-style teapot with herbal teas for you to sit back, relax and enjoy.
KITCHEN
The uniquely designed raw steel kitchen doors play backdrop to the original basements stone wall with a display of carefully selected earthenware plates, bowls and cups made by a local potter, and beautiful glassware.
The kitchen is fitted with modern-day essentials including a two-ring hob, microwave oven, slow cooker, integrated dishwasher, and fridge, and including a stylish kettle and toaster.
Tucked away in a hidden space is a washing machine and dryer should you need them during your stay.
Dining
A black concrete dining table and two antique chairs make this the perfect spot for a romantic dinner for two!
BED
You’ll sleep well in The Basement with its sumptuous, luxury super king size bed. Adorned with superior goose feather and down bedding, and ultra soft Linens, the wooden window shutters and luxurious curtains ensure a cosy feel.
BATH
Behind the reclaimed wood sliding doors, this stylish space composes a rainfall shower, with a free-standing nickel and copper bath and is the ultimate place to relax.
With underfloor heating, it’s the perfect place to unwind after long coastal walks.
LOCATION
This luxury open plan ground floor basement is positioned right in the heart of Tynemouth village, just a few minutes walk from the beautiful cove of King Edwards Bay, a twenty minute drive to the city of Newcastle Upon Tyne, and the countryside of Northumberland.
OUTDOOR
Reclaimed in recycled wood with two stylish chairs and a side table this outdoor space is prefect for sitting out for morning coffee or on an evening whilst enjoying a glass of fizz or hot chocolate. To keep you cosy in the autumn winter months there is a heated wall lamp and blankets.
PARKING
The Basement doesn’t have it’s own allocated parking space as such but there is a car park outside on the street which you will be allocated a permit for.
GUEST ACCESS
Guests will have sole and uninterrupted access to the entire basement.
